Meet Destin Beach, America’s Prettiest Fishing Village
Destin Beach began as a quiet fishing village named for a Yankee fishing captain who settled there around 1845.
Captain Leonard Destin hailed from New London, Connecticut and built his home on what was then a barrier island. He and his descendants fished the area for decades.
Today, Destin is still a small village a little over eight square miles. Geographic changes over the years have transformed it into a peninsula. It didn’t even incorporate as a municipality until the 1980s. It’s still a pretty little village and known for fishing. Destiny calls itself The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.
Beach and Yacht Weddings
While Destin remains an active fishing village—we have the largest fishing fleet in Florida—it’s also a destination for people who want something special when they marry.
Picture a wedding on the beach or if you like, on a charted yacht at sunset, or even sunrise. Florida Weddings hosts several of these each year in Destin.
Whether you’re only looking for an officiant to handle the legal details, a full-fledged reception, or something in between, we will give you the wedding others might dare dream about. We work with Destin’s natural beauty and to create memorable weddings and receptions that include all the little details you care about.
Our beach and yacht wedding planners can craft simple but elegant settings for a small group or larger events that require catering, flowers, cake, sleeping room arrangements, even hair and makeup on the big day. No wedding is too big or too small for us to handle.
Why Marry on Destin?
Why should Destin be your wedding destiny?
Three words: beauty, calm, and superb services.
Destin’s beauty starts with incredibly white beaches—pretty much the whitest sand in the world. Its fine crystals originate in the rocks of the Appalachian Mountains, where the Apalachicola River carries it to the Gulf of Mexico by. The Gulf pushes it up to Destin’s shorefront.
Add in the relaxing breezes off the fabled Gulf of Mexico and you can just feel the calming influence of these emerald waters.
Lastly, services. From fishing boat charters and dolphin watch cruises to golf and tennis resorts, the people of Destin know how to help people relax and enjoy vacations in comfort. Plus, we’re just an hour from two international airports in Pensacola and Panama City. Destin-Fort Walton Beach serves three national and one regional airline.
Why would you want to marry anywhere else?
